FOR EXISTING ORDERS ONLY- Want Your Meteorite to be Troilite Free?
Materials
Not sure of your size? A sizer set is included with your purchase, or order a custom made ring sizer for $10. Be sure to select the same width as the ring you want — a wide ring fits tighter than a thin ring in the same size.
There might be very small deposits of troilite visible in the meteorite portion of your made-to-order jewelry. Some customers welcome its presence because it makes the final item all the more unique and one-of-a-kind. But, if you prefer to ensure there is no troilite in your item, please purchase this service add-on in addition to your made-to-order ring or accessory.
This add-on is not available for in stock items.
One troilite-free add-on applies to the meteorite in one item. If you're ordering multiple items, please also order the corresponding number of troilite free add-ons desired.
More About Meteorite & Troilite
Meteorite is the perfect symbol of eternal love. It is over 4 billion years old and has withstood all tests of time. It took a specific chain of events for the asteroid to fall out of its original orbit around the sun and eventually settle on a collision course with Earth. That said, over time, the meteorite is inevitably going to undergo some changes and those include the deposit of troilite. Some consider it an extraordinary "birth mark" of sorts. A symbol of its adventure through space and time. Learn more in our blog post Troilite in Meteorite Jewelry.
Behind the Piece
This piece is cut and set entirely by hand by Johan in Minneapolis, USA. The Gibeon meteorite inlay is etched with acid to reveal its unique Widmanstätten crystal pattern — a formation that took millions of years at approximately 1°C per million years of cooling.
No two rings will ever share the same pattern. Yours is singular, permanent, and genuinely cosmic.
Avoid Prolonged Moisture
Brief water exposure (hand-washing, light rain) is fine. Remove before swimming in saltwater or chlorinated pools.
No Harsh Chemicals
Keep away from cleaning products, bleach, solvents, and acids. Remove your ring before household cleaning.
Monthly Cleaning
Rinse under cool water, dry immediately with a soft cloth. Apply a drop of mineral oil or Renaissance Wax monthly.
Re-Etching Available
Over years of wear, the Widmanstätten pattern may soften. Send it back to Johan for a fresh acid etch to restore its full drama.
Storage
Store in a dry environment. A silica gel packet in your jewelry box will absorb ambient moisture.
